Event Report: Summer BBQ 2026
In June 2026 Paws Xaló and the u3a Vall de Pop joined forces to host a summer BBQ.

On Friday 26 June, 130 u3a members and Paws Xaló supporters joined us for a summer BBQ. This event was held jointly, in support of Paws Xaló Dog rescue and u3a Goodwill - two charities that are very close to our hearts.
It was a hot one, so we had put up plenty of shade. The heat also meant that our team of barmen (Chris, Neil and Jon from Paws) were kept busy, as demand for cold drinks was high at the very popular 1 Euro bar!
Shaun, Jeni and Karen from Paws staffed the BBQ. They did an amazing job of feeding everyone in such a short space of time while offering a great selection, including vegetarian options, to go with the 6 different salads. A highlight was Sonia’s famous potato salad! All of this was topped off with ice cream to follow.
‘Forever Young’ provided the music, and they were absolutely fabulous. Non-stop well known songs from across the decades, which kept the dance floor full throughout despite the heat. Lots of singing along and lots of fun. Be aware that you will have another chance to see this great band at the u3a Vall de Pop 20th anniversary party, at their September 4th GA meeting in Murla. Definitely not to be missed!
As always, guests were very generous with the raffle, and we are thankful to everyone for taking part.
Thanks to Marian White, Linda Burns and Sonia H for all their help. This event was marked by great teamwork between the two charities, and it was lovely to be a part of it.
A Huge Fundraising Success
More than anything, we want to thank everyone who came and supported the evening. We raised an amazing €2.225,50 which will be shared between the two charities.
Remember that every single euro Paws Xaló makes goes towards helping dogs in need in the Jalon Valley. Please continue to support the dogs by attending our future events, by popping into our charity shop to find a bargain, by making a donation, or by joining our fun and friendly group of volunteers!
